What am I living for? What a question Eh? (I needed to put the ”Eh” in there for my American friends) Very few of these deep internal questions seem to get answered in life. I remember this question was answered for me when my beautiful wife Becca and I decided what our life scripture was going to be, before we got married.

We were trying to answer the question “What are we going to live for”. We read many scriptures including the 1 Corinthians 13 passage that people often use as their wedding scripture. We also considered the bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh type scriptures that seemed funny to me. All of the scriptures are true and awesome, but for our lives, we wanted something…. to live for, something that would sum up our lives, who we are created to be and what we want for eternity. We searched many obscure scriptures and many well known ones but we both were astonished when we read Psalm 27:4-6. ” The one thing I ask of the Lord- the thing I seek most- is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, delighting in the Lord’s perfections and meditating in His temple….At His sancturary I will offer sacrifices with shouts of joy, singing and praising the Lord with music.”  Becca and I decided that our lives would be dedicated to seeking God and to live in His house and in His presence. We decided to live our lives to honor God with our music and with our worship. We have found that this world is full of many great things and many pleasures that God created for us to enjoy.  There is nothing that truly fills us on the inside like when God is near to us.  We are living to seek God, to live in His house, and to make music that brings the Holy and Beautiful, eternally filling presence of God.
